NAVIGATING AIR PERMITTING

Air permitting is difficult to navigate on many levels. Facilities are required to consider emissions of volatile organic compounds, hazardous air pollutants, non-methane hydrocarbons, nitrous oxides, and many other emissions that may be harmful to the environment or human health. Air permitting is more than just filling out forms.

Our air quality compliance experts help guide clients through emission calculations from single processes as well as facility-wide production. We connect clients with State Permitting Chiefs and Engineers to determine how to best structure an air permit to enable growth projections over five years, while staying within permitted limits.

Additionally, facilities are required to consider many factors including: pollution control devices, Best Available Control Technology (BACT), Reasonably Available Control Technology (RACT), Environmental Justice Zones, Prevention of Significant Deterioration, New Source Review, National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP), and Major Source thresholds. We have extensive experience working with clients and regulators to help the complex process go as smoothly as possible.

REGULATORY APPLICABILITY, COMPLIANCE, TRACKING, AND REPORTING

Air Quality-Dashboard

The nuances within state and federal regulations such as surface disinfection, parts degreasing, NESHAP, pollution control device requirements, and staying below Major Source thresholds can be tricky.

We walk through applicability of these regulations with companies, and help clients identify tools to use for tracking needed data to comply with the requirements. Often, facilities must gather chemical purchasing, usage, and waste data, track air emissions, provide awareness training to facility operators, give notification to state and federal agencies, and prepare triennial or annual reports. Many clients find that reserving in-house resources to maneuver through air requirements can be costly and complicated. We provide clients with a team of air experts dedicated to helping businesses succeed and with the tools necessary to achieve future goals.

ENFORCEMENT GUIDANCE

Help with air quality enforcement guidance

Sometimes a company may find itself in a situation of air quality enforcement and facing fines, harm to business reputation, loss of community support, and possibly the need to cease production. While sorting out an enforcement situation can be daunting, we help by providing direction, support, references for legal counsel, and tactical interaction with regulatory enforcement officials. We help clients by acting as the liaison between regulatory agencies, legal counsel, and the facility to provide the technical air expertise part of the puzzle.
