Regulatory News: OSHA 300 Logs to be posted by February 1

Employers who are required to maintain a log of work-related injuries and illnesses are required to post the 300A injury summary of 2019’s incidents by February 1, 2020, which is a Saturday, so employers should post their logs by the end of this week. Those also required to submit OSHA logs electronically must do so by March 2, 2020.

Below is a summary of the requirement:

Most employers with more than 10 employees are required to maintain a log of work-related injuries and illnesses. A list of exempt industries can be found here.

Maintaining and Posting Records

  • Employers must maintain work related injury and illness information on forms 300, 300A and 301. Employers are required to post the 300A injury summary of 2019’s incidents from February 1 - April 30, 2020 in a conspicuous location for employees to view.

Electronic Submission of Records

  • Establishments with 250 or more employees that are currently required to keep OSHA injury and illness records, and establishments with 20-249 employees that are classified in certain industries (Industry List) are required to submit their 300A summary information electronically through OSHA’s Injury Tracking Application (ITA).

  • March 2, 2020 is the deadline for electronically reporting your OSHA Form 300A data for calendar year 2019. The ITA will open on January 2nd, 2020 for companies to begin submitting data.
